In 1994, Anthony and Andelys Thrush didn’t set out to build the biggest business, they set out to build the best. With a few tools, a workshop, and a decision to do things the right way, AJ’s Total Truck Gear was born.
Back then, we were polishing tanks and bullbars, learning the craft the hard way, one job at a time. No shortcuts. No automation. Just honest, hands-on work.
A few years in, we saw an opportunity. Another company was exiting the bullbar market, and we picked up their plans. That was the turning point. We went from polishing to building from scratch. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. Every bar we built was a testament to our commitment to quality and craftsmanship. And as word spread, our reputation strengthened.
Today, we’re a premium manufacturer of FUPS-rated bullbars and truck protection. But no matter how much we’ve grown, one thing hasn’t changed – how we work.

Over the years, we’ve evolved from polishing tanks to building industry-leading bullbars, all while staying true to our commitment to quality and the people who rely on us.
AJ’s was born in Queensland as a metal polishing business. Fuel tanks, bullbars, whatever came through the door, we polished it to perfection. From day one, we learned the trade the right way, with patience, precision, and pride in every job.
Eight years in, we saw an opportunity to do more. When a company exited the bullbar market, we acquired their plans and shifted gears. We stopped only working on bars and we started building them. It was a bold move, but it paid off. We poured everything we had into creating bars that were tougher, better-looking, and built to last.
Bullbars quickly became the heart of our business, now making up 80% of what we do. Every bar is hand-finished, every job done properly. That’s how we earned our reputation as the leading supplier for the toughest, best-looking bars and bumpers in the market.
We acquired Kentweld Bull Bars in Gippsland, expanding into Victoria. What started as a small 500m² shed quickly grew into a 1,200m² facility with a full team supporting major truck dealerships. New market, same standards.
Western Australia was the next frontier. We set up shop to take control of how our products were delivered and fitted in the region. No middlemen. No compromises. Just AJ’s quality, direct to the people who need it.
