BULLBARS & BUMPERS - MASTERS OF THE OUTBACK

500,000 klms. Cooktown to Perth. The bar's still straight.

How Murrells Freightlines keeps Ron Duncan’s Kenworth T909 moving through the toughest runs in Australia — with an AJ’s 18-inch polished alloy drop bar doing its job every time.

ROUTE

Cooktown QLD Perth WA, interstate

Ron Duncan runs one of the most demanding interstate routes in the country — Cooktown in far north Queensland all the way to Perth, flipping between roadtrains and quad single slide liners depending on the job. With a 62-truck fleet relying on uptime, keeping the truck moving through remote country is everything.

01 THE CHALLENGE

Running both roadtrain and quad configs meant one hard constraint: overall length. The quad had to stay under 22m and the B-doubles under 26m — ruling out a conventional full bullbar. Ron needed something FUPS compliant that looked right on the truck and could survive genuine wildlife strikes on remote roads, without adding length he couldn’t afford.

02 THE SOLUTION

The AJ’s 18-inch polished alloy drop bar was the answer — compact enough to stay within length limits for both configurations, FUPS compliant, and finished in show-quality polished alloy that suits the Working Man Edition. Australian-made and hand-finished, it’s proven itself across every kilometre of Ron’s route.

THE STAT THAT SELLS

500,000+ km. Numerous wildlife strikes. The bar's still straight — and Ron's never been put off the road.

03 WHY IT HOLDS UP

Built to take hits

Polished alloy engineered for repeated wildlife impacts — 500,000+ km and numerous strikes later, still straight.

FUPS compliant

The only solution that kept the truck legal within strict length limits for both configurations.

Protects the expensive bits

Guards and mounts have copped damage — the bar has shielded the critical front-end every time.

Australian-made

Hand-finished to handle everything from Cape York corrugations to WA outback highways.

"When you consider the places I travel and some of the roads I run — I'm not just a highway truck — the bar has stood up 100 percent."
